Curriculum Update: Expression Through the Arts

K1 students enjoy creating and putting on a performance in our K1 pod.

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we have entered our final term of K1!  This is an exciting time of year when we witness the children consolidating many skills that we have been working on for several months.  They are growing in confidence and skill.

We have started a new Unit of Study.  This Unit focuses on expression through the arts and will culminate with an Arts Festival.  This Arts Festival will be celebrated through a musical performance by the children and a class family singalong. Please plan to join us for your child's class festival! The performance dates are as follows:

May 19 (Thursday): 

K1CAM Show 1: 8:30 - 9:15

K1HTH Show 2: 9:30 - 10:15

May 20 (Friday): 

K1MCO Show 1: 8:30 - 9:15

K2 SEB Show 2: 9:30 - 10:15

The Arts Festival challenges children in many important ways.  They learn to follow a group plan, perform in front of an audience, and adjust to changes in their daily routine. We are excited to support the K1 students as they apply their skills to new contexts, and grow in confidence and independence.

We are currently working on a possible parent coffee time following the performances, so you may want to organise your schedules to include an additional hour at school following your child's class performance.  More details to come!
